Current Trends in Computer Graphics 2018

Description

We will focus on procedural modeling techniques that allow to create digital content algorithmically as opposed to manually. Procedural content generation is an important component in many application areas such as game and movie productions or in the field of architectural landscape planing. Based on simple rulesets, complex and detailed structures (virtual worlds, terrains, plants, buildings etc.) can be easily created. Examples include L-systems, fractal-based modeling or even generative algorithms that are applied to create digital artifacts in art, music and design .

The student's task is to select a specific topic in the field of procedural modeling, to get an overview about the topic and to present his results. The presentation is in form of a 20min talk in the course and a written report. Possible topics will be announced in the course.
